My brother-in-law Jon, ran the Ironman today in Madison. If you aren't familiar, the Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run...all in one day! It was his 5th time doing the event, and first since 2006. The number of participants has grown much since the first event in 2002--there were 1802 then, and 2797 in today's event. Since it was his first time doing the event in 5 years, he wasn't expecting to do too well (he finished 12 hours 18 min.)

This shot is from the swim, when all 2797 participants are swimming the 2.4 mile course. It's quite a sight to see.
