Taken on: 2011-11-26 22:46:18

On November 1st, Wisconsin allowed qualified residents to apply for a license to carry a concealed weapon. Many who live in Wisconsin and are not familiar with firearms may find this a bit crazy, but most don't realize that Wisconsin was the 49th state to allow this (Illinois is the lone state that still does not).

I applied for a permit in early November, and got my license today. The letter and license is pictured (with personal info removed) next to my new .38 Ruger LCR with Crimson Trace Lasergrips. Though I don't know how often I'll actually carry, it is nice to know the option now exists in Wisconsin.

Comments:
Matt, I don't own a gun, but I know a coworker of mine
here in Nevada who does. One thing he mentions is
that you will need to carry your concealed gun license
w/ you in the car if you have a gun in the car w/ you
& you get pulled over for any reason (speeding, etc. ).
It's about time they join the club. Wish they had done it when I lived up there. Did you have to take a course before applying? Here in TX we have to attend a full day or 2-day course including range time before applying but it's totally worth the piece of mind I get, even just carrying it in the car.
